From my seat I could see straight into the florist across the street, buckets of blooms crowded together like they were arguing over which one got the window. Peonies leaning into ranunculus, sweet peas tangled with anemones, all of it lit gold in the late afternoon. Somewhere behind it, just visible over the rooftops, the white domes of Sacre Coeur watched over the whole street like they'd seen this exact scene a thousand times before and never got tired of it.
