A crowded still life of vessels in Jessie Breakwell’s modern primitive style, bold jugs, urns and pots layered across warm linen. Named for the pottery towns of southern Italy, the painting is rich with pattern, stripe, chevron and dot, alongside blocks of cobalt, olive, magenta and blush pink. Overlapping forms build a sense of depth, as if generations of vessels have been gathered and painted one on top of another.
